About us

The Port of Hamburg handles more than 135 million tons of cargo per year. As an integrated open port, HANSAPORT specializes in iron ore and coal.

Our strategy

Germany is dependent on a secure supply of raw materials, which is why our customers will continue to rely on our handling facility in Hamburg in the future.

HANSAPORT has always been able to respond to changing customer requirements in terms of quantity and/or quality.

Our circularity approach

The processing of ore and coal produces the by-product slag, which is used in the construction industry, for example.
In future, HANSAPORT will not only handle ore, but will also contribute to Salzgitter AG’s circularity approach by handling slag. Today, ½ million tons of this material are already being shipped around the world via HANSAPORT.
